CP English 10: Into the Wild - Bio Belt Project

Into the Wild - Bio Belt Project
Due: December 10, 2014

Chris McCandless learned leather working from Ron Franz and created a belt, which symbolized his life, his year on the road, and his plans for the future.

1. For this project, you will create your own bio belt.  After creating a prototype draft, you’ll transfer your design to a real belt. Be creative. Use color markers, construction paper, stickers, paint, ribbon, any found materials that symbolize and say something about you, your life, your beliefs, values, goals, dreams.
*We will work on the draft in class this week.
The following will affect your final test grade for the belt:
·Appropriateness of symbolism (50%)
·Creativity (25%)
·Neatness (25%)

2. You will write a single paragraph that demonstrates effective and organized writing (8-12 sentences) describing your belt and the events that happened in your life that have shaped who you are today and your future plans. This paragraph must be typed and turned in with your belt. This will count as a quiz grade.

3. You will also be given a separate quiz grade for your presentation. You will present your belt to your classmates. You must be mature and responsible during your presentation and your peers. Failure to do this will result in a zero that cannot be made up.
The following will affect your quiz grade for the presentation:
·Volume/Projection (25%)
·Seriousness of Presentation (25%)
·Presence on “stage” (25%)
·Organization (25%)

The belt that "Alex" created.
